Pictures less than perfect

Picture perfect is an ideal often leading (as ideals do) to perverse extremes. Fear not, no tirade follows against the ism of your choice, not even perfectionism. Of which, to my knowledge, I've never been accused, rightly, given lack of any evidence. But I do wish birds wouldn't besot with their beauty before hiding their lights behind bushels of bushes and branches when the camera comes out. Above picture of Little Bronze-Cuckoo (Chalcites minutillus) gets bird looking awkward on wrong side of perch; tail part obscured by branch.

Little Pied Cormorant (Microcarba melanoleucos) at first almost seemed to be wearing necklace, then shifted and rather ruined (my mind's eye) picture.

Wandering Whistling-Duck (Dendrocygna arcuata) gets one feather out of place over face and image should have been waved goodbye.

Peaceful Dove (Geopelia striata) looks okay, but lifts a foot and develops case of the shakes.

As always, there's always tomorrow...

I think this collection perfectly describes the challenge of bird photography ... Allen and I always enjoy your photos Tony even if we don't always comment.

I'ld be happy if I got your cuckoo and whislting duck photos. They are way better than any I've managed of these species.

Regards,
Mark

Hmmm! I guess it depends how much you expect of both yourself and your subject - it sounds like much more than most do!

Hi Barbara: It's kind of people to comment at all, let only asking, or seeking, comment on everything posted. It really is a two-way street: thanks for viewing; thanks for sharing.

Hi Mark: Cuckoos offer hope for all. They are so approachable at times. Getting the ducks in flight so depends on right light, apart from all other in-flight challenges.

Hi Mick: I don't set my targets too high. But I have found that I'm becoming a little too picky with my own pictures perhaps.

Head up for dragonfly, head off for fish head . . .
