Quick quiz follows quirk quitted

Have listened to all the gnashing of teeth over rash decision to strive for full-frame perfection and not postprocess images. So, back to the past. In truth, the decision created unforeseen conflicts with workflow and upset archaic chronological filing system.

Bit of catchup follows (can you name them all?):

 Jabiru, Brush Cuckoo, Peaceful Dove, Cotton Pigmy-goose, Grey-headed Robin, Golden Bowerbird 

Golden Bowerbird tempting before Wet sets in

Spotted patch of blue to the south and headed off to heights of Paluma dam road yesterday to check on Golden Bowerbird (Amblyornis newtonianus) before the Wet really sets in.

Male showed up close to bower but then didn't stick about for long. No sign of females or any immature males.

Tooth-billed Catbird (Scenopoeetes dentirostris) in same area active and noisy as ever on favoured perch near its display area of upturned green leaves.

Had to sit on wet ground to get clear view of bird. Finished morning with sodden shorts and muddy car.


Caution: slippery sections of the much-potholed unsealed road to the dam will be barely passable for 2WD if wet weather persists, as seems certain.

Golden glimpses of Mr Gorgeous

Ignored misty cloud and pothole peril to seek Golden Bowerbird (Amblyornis newtonianus) along Paluma Dam road today.

Car's life shortened, but mine expanded with memorable minutes watching Mr Gorgeous.

And he even gave out a few of frog-like croaks. 

Now I know what to listen for when close to the mighty bower.

Also in same area, and singing mightily above his upsidedown-leaf-strewn bower, Tooth-billed Catbird (Scenopoeetes dentirostris).

Species used to be Bowerbird. Before that, Catbird.

Bowerbird's more apt, but he probably couldn't care less.
