Wanderering ducks stay as croc whistles away

Wandering Whistling-Ducks (Dendrocygna arcuata) amid blue and pink waterlilies at Macknade wetland near Ingham today.

Love to show the 2.5m crocodile sunning with yellow-toothed open grin at edge of same billabong, but it proved faster than the ducks.

So here's a slower reptile, a large monitor on point duty, from a recent outing.

In Tyto, Intermediate Egrets (Ardea intermedia) have returned in modest numbers.

The egret in flight is nice!

I liked the twiggy look of the legs 'growing' down towards the tree.

Tony! So good to see you birding here in blogspot land. Last time we crossed paths was in bigblog land in 2008.

I'm so excited to see all your bird captures - off to explore your photo collection!

Cheers,

Cindy

Lovely to see Wandering Ducks - we haven't seen any here since January. We've a couple of nights in Ingham early next week so I'm looking forward to visiting Tyto. I love the shot of the Egret with landing gear engaged!
