Plover poses - Pipit pauses

Hot-footed it across Lucinda sands yesterday in pursuit of Red-capped Plovers (Charadrius ruficapillus).

Mostly, birds faster than me. But one hopped onto driftwood and stopped briefly.

Also darting about the dunes, Australasian Pipit (Anthus novaeseelandiae).

Different places suit different birds I guess. I find the Red-capped Plovers easy to get close to down here but can't get anywhere near a Pipit. I would certainly like to get close enough for a photo like yours.

Tut! Tut! Don't say my confidence in your powers of observation has been misplaced! You were the only one that noticed I had a new lens last year. Haven't you seen the results of the new camera over the last month? Santa came early.

Hi Tony
Great shot of the male Red-cap (first shot). Beautiful contrasts.
The other is just taking a break, after you having chased it, I suspect. Mind you, you must have been careful to keep it walking, not flying off - right away from you.
Cheers
Denis
PS I can certify that Mick has been getting some great shots of her birds recently.
