Did look again today and found they're stronger orange-yellow than I've posted. And they are a bit soggy. But it rained again last night :-(Tyto Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03834120720077625697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3273239276262782106.post-51376939698668757622008-10-04T23:05:00.000+10:002008-10-04T23:05:00.000+10:00Hi TonyThe form of your second jelly fungus looks ...Hi Tony
The form of your second jelly fungus looks just like very fresh Auricularia we get in the local rainforest. Colour differs, but that means little. Form is right.
<
For the second type, check out the Pholiota genus. Here, local specimens start with traces of the membrane stuck on top of the cap, then develop into brownish orange coloured fungi, very sticky. They collapse into a gooey mess after a few days. Local specimens grow out from trees and shrubs, presumably from dead heartwood in live trees.
Cheers
DenisDenis Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10031115992910569116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3273239276262782106.post-49116101523189599312008-10-04T23:03:00.000+10:002008-10-04T23:03:00.000+10:00Snails would be truly a bonus. Mosura possibly thought me flippant when I once described the wetlands as depauperate, but things are literally thin on the ground.Tyto Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03834120720077625697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3273239276262782106.post-48019632721948201362008-10-04T22:47:00.000+10:002008-10-04T22:47:00.000+10:00Interesting finds - Unfortunately I can't help wit...Interesting finds - Unfortunately I can't help with any ID'sMosurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14786494432479216149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3273239276262782106.post-48239493774127333452008-10-04T22:41:00.000+10:002008-10-04T22:41:00.000+10:00If you're keeping an eye on these, it might be wor...If you're keeping an eye on these, it might be worth checking them out from time to time for signs of snail feeding. Some snails find fungi gills to be absolutely irresistible.Snailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15063904446757916981noreply@blogger.com
